5 TIPS FOR DECORATING YOUR HOME AT THE HAT FOR THE HOLIDAYS

If you have the vision to recreate Santa’s workshop in your apartment here at The Hat at East Village but aren’t sure where to begin, we are here to help.

Your living space here at The Hat gives you plenty of room to get creative for decorating your home, and we wanted to share a few tips and tricks with you on how to maximize all that space – from your front door to your balcony.

Try out these 5 festive décor ideas that will brighten your home for the holiday season.

1. DECORATE YOUR DOOR

Welcome the holiday cheer from the minute you walk up to your door by hanging a simple wreath and getting a festive door mats – because what better excuse to be cheesy than during the holidays!

2. PUT LIGHTS EVERYWHERE

String some lights up around the highest parts of your home and your balcony railing – it will make looking out at your view of the city of Calgary even better. Lights add instant holiday spirit and take up very little space.

3. GET A TREE

We understand you may not want a giant Christmas tree in your apartment, and this is where it’s time to think like a Charlie Brown Christmas – bigger isn’t always better.

Whether it’s a a mini three-foot ‘entryway’ tree that perches perfectly in the corner of your apartment, a slim tree that feels tall and full without taking up a bunch of space, or even just a tiny table-top tree to place on your TV stand or coffee table – having a tree is a key element in making your home at The Hat feel like the holidays.

*Residents, please note that here at The Hat we do not allow fresh Christmas trees into the elevators as the needles can cause damage.

4. SWAP OUT YOUR DECORATIVE PILLOWS
For different decorative pillows, that is. Switch out the throw pillow covers on your sofa or bed – it’s an easy way to give your apartment a cozy Christmas feel.

5. DRESS UP YOUR DRESSERS AND COFFEE TABLES

Add some festive decor to your bedroom by dressing up your dresser with some simple elements like matching stockings, or add a stack of holiday books to your coffee table in the living room. And be sure to add some scented candles (our favourite is peppermint) to not only make it feel like Christmas, but to smell like it too.

From all of us at The Hat at East Village, we wish you all a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!
