5 RESTAURANTS TO CHECK OUT IN EAST VILLAGE

 

It’s our first blog post of 2022, and what better way to kick the year off than by sharing with you a few of our favourite restaurants here in East Village – all of which are located just minutes away from us at The Hat at East Village. 

 

1. KING EDDY

Located just blocks away from The Hat at East Village, King Eddy was established in 1905 and was Calgary’s second oldest hotel and the longest operating bar and hotel when it closed in 2004. In 2008, the Eddy was acquired by the National Music Centre (NMC) and in collaboration with Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC), the King Eddy was carefully reassembled, honouring the original plans and returning it to its 1905 glory.

In July 2018, the King Eddy reopened as a restaurant, bar and music venue and continues to be a cornerstone of music, community, and culture.

 

2. NUPO

This Japanese style restaurant celebrates plant-forward, vegan cuisine paired with incredible sushi—both fresh and aged in their specialty, unique in Canada, dry aging chamber.

 

3. EIGHT

Hidden away in the back of NUPO restaurant through a discreet entrance is the EIGHT seat kitchen bar. EIGHT is a dining experience that encourages full engagement with Chef Darren Maclean, showcasing previously unseen forms of dining entertainment.

 

4. CHARBAR

A cornerstone of the Simmons dining emporium, charbar is a boutique eatery featuring respect for ingredients and passionate cookery inspired by Argentina’s asadores.

 

5. BLUE STAR DINER
